ehrm. hello
I'm Shell, but have recently been christened 'Sunflower' by my comrades. I've been playing guitar now for about 2 years, and want to go into the music industry when I'm done with school...*sighs and gazes pathetically into the distant future*
I have two guitars whom I love very dearly. One is a vintage, battle-scarred Yamaha acoustic (FG200) which my dad scored off some oke in the Army for R50. His name is Freddy.
The other is a 2007 Fender Squier with a rosewood fingerboard and ten-gauge strings. His name is Jack.
I'd like to say that my music sounds like Alien Ant Farm, B.B. King, The Beatles, Bloomfield Kooper Stills, Bob Dylan, Boston, Cream, Dave Matthews Band, David Bowie, Death Cab for Cutie, Elvis Costello, Eric Clapton, Green Day, Jack Johnson, Jeff Beck, Jet, Jimi Hendrix, John Mayer, Johnny Winter, The Killers, Leonard Cohen, Lightnin' Hopkins, Linkin Park, Little Richard, Modest Mouse, Muse, My Chemical Romance, The New Pornographers, Panic! at the Disco, Pink Floyd, Queen, Radiohead, Robert Johnson, The Rolling Stones, The Shins, The Small Faces, Steely Dan, Steve Vai, Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Strokes, Weather Report, Wolfmother and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs all playing simultaneously, but you'd need a lot of earphones [not to mention a lot of ears] to listen to that sort of thing, so for the moment I'll just stick to sounding like a silly teenager messing around with her Dad's recording equipment...

Any relation to the other Avenant person currently disgracing the forum with his presence? (If so, my sympathies. ?) There do seem to be similarities in the wide-ranging music taste and the sense of humour...
Perhaps since he started frequenting this forum, you have realised that if you want to talk to him much in the future, you had to join up here too? ? Such is the nature of this addictive place <sigh>.

similarities in wide-ranging music taste only go so far, though. I didn't include in my music taste that I rather like some (more rock-glazed) variations of rap and hiphop, lest my father should errupt in a wild explosion of swearing and violent threats and you should have to kick him off the forum for violating its terms of use. we wouldn't want that, now would we? ?

So it would probably be a bad idea to hit on you then? ? Especially as I'm apparently going to see him in the flesh on Tuesday or so and I'd rather not see his flesh in the form of knuckle covering from extremely close range.

ag, yeah, facebook sucks hey.
It annoys me how impersonal everything has become because of facebook. There are so many people who think its okay if they never want to hang out with me, as long as they talk to me on facebook.
But I use it because it does actually help me stay in touch with everyone.
Teenagers move fast. They gaggle and squawk and migrate like a flock of birds. Facebook is like the avine migratory instinct of teenagers of the 21st century.
As impersonal as it may be, I need to stay with the program.
