Hi guys
what will happen if I run my MXR Flanger (that is an 18v pedal) off of my 9v adaptor?
I understand that I cant power a 9v pedal with an 18v adaptor because you will fry the insides but what happens if it is the other way around?

It will be underwpoered and not sound so nice ...... Or not work at all.....

It's going to sound real bad. You must get the dunlop brick or the original dunlop 18V adapter. I have a MXR dime and had the same problem. Tried some other 18V adapters but they all gave noise.
