I dont know if this has been posted but Musiciansfriend http://www.musiciansfriend.com/
ship all of their used gear overseas including to South Africa ?

Ive looked through the catalogue and they have some really great stock which changes from day to day.
You can pick up great bargains from there like Custom Shop Fenders for R14000 as well as Gibson Custom shops as well ?
Its listed per condition and they state exactly what is wrong with the instrument(scratches, dents etc)

Shipping for a guitar is around about $210 and since its used there should be minimal or no import tax.

I shipped a Bogner Uberschall and I paid exactly zero Rands import duties ?

Go have a look ???
Very cool. Vic. Here's your chance to get the Gretsch 6120 you were after. A few going for not terrifying cash.
I think that's their loophole for international shipping which is awesome to say the least.

        A bit of an update:

Initially ordered through MF, paid with a credit card, order waited for about 2 weeks and eventually got cancelled. This was due to the fact that my bank didnt send them an authorisation code to clear the order ? not sure who to blame here.

So once I received my money back(after 4 days) I paid for the order through Paypal on Sunday at 4pm, the items were shipped at 9pm(SA time) same day ?
They running a special now for free shipping, so I scored free courier shipping, order should arrive end of week, or next week(dependant on customs)

Will let you know how the items are packaged etc... ?
Sounds good. This is on the Bogner Uber mentioned in the first post? Or something else - just wondering how you know it was 0% customs if it's not in your hands yet.

Nope the Bogner was shipped through Guitarcenter and I paid no import duties because it was listed as used. The Fedex customs officer explained that to me. This rule helped me out on a couple of orders from GC, I have only paid customs once on one of my Bogner cabs as that was new(it was just over 10% of the value). I dont see a lot of used gear anymore on GC though.

This order I'm receiving now(from Musiciansfriend) is also for used gear and as I understand it, there will be no import duties as well due to this rule, as long as it is listed as used and not as new.
              Ok, thanks for clarifying.
My bass and amp arrived from MusiciansFriend today ?
Packaged perfectly and in great condition.
The amp I just had to change the fuse and it is perfect(it has a built in voltage switch)

I had to pay R600 import duties because UPS said that it wasnt marked as used but as new... ☹
but thats fine, because the price I got these for, it is still a steal!

                  Amp ? . . . from the US ?

How are you getting around the USA 110V thing ?

the krank has a 110/240 voltage switch built in, one of the few amps out there that has it.

My old Bogner Uberschall was also a 110v, I just got Marshall Music to recoil it to 240v for R500
