I'm confused. Why the poll? "How many" basically asks for a number answer. You want to know how many of us guys are in bands where a player sings and which player in the band? Or are you asking how many bands generally have an instrumentalist/singer?

It's more often a bassist or a rhythm guitarist than anything else. Jazz you often find a guitarist who is also the vocalist (Benson springs to mind). Geddy Lee from Rush for a good bass example. No reason why any member of the band can't also be the vocalist though - look at the Eagles where the drummer is the vocalist.
what if there are 2 guitarists and there isn't a lead or rhythm? like they both solo, but one just happens sing or even both, but only one i classified as the Frontman?

What ....Like Andy Powell - Wishbone Ash?

I also do not get the... How many poll with no number option.
Not that I know the answer anyway.
        Wishbone Ash!!

This is a good band, I haven't heard that name mentioned for a long time

Genesis and Sting come come to mind straight of the bat...

How much harder is it to be a lead guitarist doing a solo and singing at the same time..???
To be pedantic, that doesn't happen. There's generally not much singing going on when the solos are happening.

But being a main soloist in a band and also lead vocalist doesn't seem to be a problem: Jimi Hendrix, Billy Gibbons, Eric Clapton, Richard Thompson, Bruce Cockburn, Mark Knopfler, George Harrison, Lowell George.... y'all can think of plenty more.

I used to think that bass and lead vocals was more of a problem, but I'm not so sure. McCartney, Sting, Geddy Lee, Greg Lake, various guys who played for Wishbone Ash, Mark King, Jack Bruce...

Phil Collins didn't drum and do lead vocals for Genesis at the same time (except perhaps in videos).
What I meant was..which is more prevalent ...a stand alone vocalist or one of the band members taking up duty and which band member you think most commonly takes up the duty.

Sorry about pooching the number option...was in abit of a hurry this morning.. :-[
Most Lead singers that play rhythm guitar just plays to give a fuller sound to the music live.

Poll is kinda confusing.....hehehe, Tom Araya [Slayer] plays a face melting Bass while doing vocals!!!
like Avenged Sevenfold, when they play live everyone but the bassist does vocals.... ???
Troy Sanders destroys bass and vocals 4 Mastodon. and he's got crazy stage presence 2 boot.
One of my favorite metal bands, Becoming the Archetype, has the bass player doing the lead singing. And his vocals are absolutely brutal, but he still manages to keep his basslines tight, which i think is very impressive.

I also noticed that Avenged Sevenfold thing by the way. But those guys have really good voices, i am guessing the bassist is just below par in their case.
