A friend of mine in the US who is a total tonehound has been singing the praises of the Mustang III lately. This is a guy that has a half dozen vintage Fender amps and gigs regularly on the roots circuit. Up until now he's been anti-modelling and he's definitely not a computer person either, but he's very impressed with the Mustangs - particularly since the last firmware update. BTW - he reckons that fiddling with both the bias and sag settings is crucial to getting the best tone (FWIW, I find the same thing with Guitar Rig).
the III is a 100 watter and i guess this is where the technology comes into its own big time. enough power and presence to do it all justice. well i am impressed with the functionalty of it all, will suss out hte tones later. the bigger mustangs also have loads loads more presets .... and one can dial in any sound one can imagine really. will play around with this a lot over the next couple of days i reckon. also the mustang pricing is insanely good being cheaper than the competion on a per wattage basis.
