Fender has unveiled a new digital modelling practice amp, the seven watt Mustang Mini. Check out the press release below for full details.

The go-anywhere, play-anywhere Mustang Mini amp is ultra-portable and ultra-versatile. It packs state-of-the-art Fender tone technology into a diminutive yet amazingly versatile amp with a single 6.5-inch speaker and seven watts of power.

Highly compact and lightweight (only 7.25 lbs.), the Mustang Mini is loaded with features including 24 onboard presets built from eight digital amp models and a dozen digital effects (with more available online, including artist presets) and easy computer connectivity.

Other features include headphone output, auxiliary input, USB port and included USB cable for digital recording, Fender FUSE connectivity for adding more effects and parameters, programmable control knobs including gain and treble, "tap" button for setting delay times and modulation rates, "save" button for preserving modified preset settings, built-in tuner, hinged handle that doubles as tilt-back mechanism, distinctive Mustang "carbon-tweed" cosmetics, AC adaptor (included) and battery operation (six AA batteries, not included).

Seems to me this is to compete with the Vox Mini 3 amp.
The prices of both the Fender and Vox are a bit high imo, but i rate if this mustang is anything like its older brothers, they are much better in terms of tone than a roland cube could ever be!

i love my vox mini 3 , but this lil fender gives me an unfortunate case of serious GAS...

With the bigger speaker and higher power it should blow the mini 3 , but i suspect will be more expensive.

Dont worry, it gives me GAS too!
I have a thing for mini amps... Would love a collection and both the vox mini and fender mustang mini are in the list!
Plus the older mini fender amps, and the orange micro crush!
I already have both the marshall micro amps, the MS2 and MS 4!
But those will be more for display than playing! But sometimes of course, i would play with them all!

Im a sucker for these cool little amps! :-[

Thats the RRP , i suspect street price will be around 90 pounds which puts it around the current mustang 1 price. unfortunratley these amps that can take batteries do extract a premium for their portability. I take my mini 3 on holidays and even on business trips and its held up pretty well. i dont have to worry about power and even play it in the garden or by the pool etc.

If one needs portability coupled with good sound , the choices are small and unfortunately expensive...look at the street cube as an example.

i like the idea it can take batteries..... i definitly want to demo one when it comes out ..any idea when they will be available..........

cos really to me thats the attraction a 'GO ANYWHERE" amp that does not sound thin and tinny ...... soft is cool ..... i'd put it in my busking setup but 7W of solid state may be too soft ......15 - 20 W would be awesome

Well by all accounts it should start being in stores around 10 october internaionally , can be bought on some webistes but not sure of delivery date as yet.

Not sure these will be brought into ZA though but if so i reckon around end october - mid november in store here.

A recently discontinued VOX DA20 guitar amp that runs on batteries or mains with 2x 8" speakers and 20W (switchable to lower wattage to preserve battery power if you need to), built in amp models + EFX and a mic & aux input. This one seems to have been modded by adding two tweeters.

thanks for the point to the amp..... but i did some reading and it seems it's 20W on mains power but offers either 1.5W or 0.5W on battery unless i'm reading it wrong ............ same as the roland ac 30 which is a nice batterry amp that is 30 W on mains but only 10W on battery ......

anyway i do have a 40W battery amp that does the job at moment .but it's just an amp with a mic input and a line input not even any eq and no modelling or reverb ect ect so thats why i'd be keen if something battery powered with revrb/modelling ect came out with sufficient wattage to busk with

Yes, you are correct on that. I forgot about that part. :-[ My mistake. It will have a bit more volume than you would expect because of the two speakers instead of the usual one, but it wouldn't have enough for you.

I've got to agree. Somebody should make something with a bit more wattage (maybe 40-50W) that runs on batteries and has effects and amp models. The ability to be used on either acoustic or electric guitar would be good too, so it should have a tweeter and the amp models should be possible to bypass. Maybe an amp with a Lithium-Ion battery pack? I'll have to suggest it to VOX...

Finally got it today .... not even tried it yet .

130 $ in the states, 110pound in uk , around 120 euro i paid abpout 1350 ...

not too bad considering the prices internationally

will give it a twirl this weekend
