American Standard vs. American deluxe strat???

Ok so I need some info...
What's the deal with these two guitars? I own an American standard and now I'm on the look for another one. So besides different electronics what's the difference between the deluxe and the standard? Is it worksmanship? Cause the kinda look and feel the same! I get the feeling that its fenders way of hotroding the original and upping the price! So what's up with that? Or am I going crazy?

The Standard is very much a "vintage" spec Stratocaster whereas the Deluxe is a more modern take on the Strat theme: the basic differences are the Deluxe has the N3 noiseless pickups, a 2-point tremelo with solid stainless steel saddles, rolled fretboard edges, 22 frets, compound radius fretboard, staggered tuning posts, S1 switching... I think that's about it as far as the differences are concerned.

I just checked on Fender's website and it seems the Standard now also has the 2-point tremelo (but with the old vintage-style bent steel saddles) and 22 frets.

No real difference in quality. I honestly prefer the Standard. I'm not a fan of the Fender Noiseless pickups or S1 Switching and prefer the bent saddles over the cast.

Thanx guys but isnt it then better to get an american standard and mod it yourself if need be! U can change pickups and still have a push pull on it!
