Just a quick one - am busy coating a guitar with Danish oil and found some Liquid Wax in the garage (basically a high gloss wax for cars) - could this be used with the oil? Something, somewhere is ringing a bell about car polish/wax and guitars...

Hi Giggsy, in my experience use the car wax only on nitro or poly finishes that have been sprayed on as one would on a car body. Fenders were designed this way. If you are using a Danish oil, use a paste wax such as Cobra to lightly buff the finish once you have built up sufficient oil layers and it has cured for the recommended time. Definitely do not use car wax or polish on an oiled finish.

Thanks Zulublues - I knew that car wax could be used on some finishes so just wanted to check first!

Gigmiester -
I use car polish (turtle wax) on my guits to get out swirls and fine scratches on paint and clear coats, works like a charm. one would use oils to feed naked wood to prevent cracking ..... that is IMO.
Peace
BTW - that Zenox of your has been haunting me in my sleep

Thanks Attila!
And yes, I've had that happen to me before - some guitars do that to you! ?

On my telecaster I put a wood wax over the final danish oil layer, to give it a bit more shine. Might work for you, but not a car wax ?

Cobra white ?
Rub on, let dry, and buff (do a buffing with a power-drill and pad, to get that initial deep lustre, then buff by hand when necessary to rejuvenate).
