Playing with some sort of disbility or hindrence

In 2001 I fell with a mountainbike and damaged my hearing. Since then I have little to no hearing in my left ear but I also hear ALOT, sounds weird I know. I cannot hear anything from the outside but on the inside there is this sound, same sound they use in movies to show what it sounds like to be in close proximity to an explosion, that 'thweeeeee!!!' sound, if there is a spelling for it ? and it is there 24/7, all the time at a volume of about 3 out of 10.
Anyway, I am always wondering if the way I hear the sound through my amp is the same as anybody else. I do have a good ear and I guess that helps alot ?

Just curious as to who else might have a disability or some issue that makes guitar playing more difficult than it already is.

I have a hearing problem ....caused by years of riding long distances on motorbikes without earplugs, full bore rock concerts as close to the speakers as possible and an ex wife that never stopped whining ....

i sometimes find it a problem and whener i play with the band i am alsways standing on the right of the stage as my left ear is better than my right ear. I dont find it to much of a problem but i do need to focus harder and my mates rip me off a lot ?

The sound you have is called tinnitus. Usually caused by acoustic trauma, but can also come from other injuries that cause hearing loss - as in your case. It's often treatable to at least diminish the ringing, but you'd have to consult a medical specialist for advice.

I suffer from a little tinnitus in my left ear too (thanks to an overly loud snare drum I owned for a few years), but fortunately no extra hearing loss to accompany it. Only temporary, but I've also been struggling for the last month or so after pulling all the muscles and tendons in my left hand (restraining my dog).

Small problem compared to you guys, but I cut the tip of my ring finger last week and couldnt play for four days without reopening the cut...

I also have tinnitus. Also no significant hearing loss though. Intriguing to hear that the ringing can be treated. Didn't know that.

Also, something a little different, not directly affecting my playing ability, but affecting other aspects:

Being mostly paralysed from the waist down: . . .
- I can't stand while playing, and this really peeves me off, as I always loved to move while rockin' >☹ >☹
- I am unable to tap my foot/feet, . . . but luckily the metronome in my head works okay ??? ?

Foot tapping is a habit I don't recommend even though it is very prevalent.
I have yet to see somebody actually doing this strictly to the beat. I don't considerr it an aid to plaiyng in time - rather a hindrance.
Most people do it as a form of musical expression, kinda like dancing. It is sometimes quite distracktong to watch -especially when the whole leg joins in ?

I don't think you have to tap a foot. Some people nod their head in time instead.

The late John Martyn gave many performances from a wheel chair after he lost a leg.

Yip, tried that. Well, I had something called guillain barre syndrome two years back. Which attacks the peripheral nervouse system, not fun. Although I supposse that doesnt count on this thread as it says "Playing with some sort of disability or hindrence", I couldnt play.... I couldnt even walk! :?

I have alot of friends from Cape Town who are blind. They started a band years ago called fudge, then they all started doing there own thing. Donavan (bassist) still plays in a band called mind assualt. I think he has about 5% vision, but you wouldnt say it when you watch them, the dudes crazy on stage.
