well the only cure for a damaged voice is rest and time........... start singing again too soon and you back to square one or worse , i;ve worked with some top class singers and when they get sick ....... they don't do what many pub muso's do and "soldier on" they arrange for a dep ( someone to temporarily take their place while they recover) and if the band is kind they pay the singer resting her voice too , kinda like sick half pay ....... but that way one is assured of a top class vocal up front every show and not someone croaking away ruining the bands reputation cos truly audiences don't understand that singers can get sick ......
drugs only work on the infection ........ but the rest and time off is what gets you back as good as always........
and don't forget a fabulous band with sub standard vocals because of illness ...will not "rock the house" so protect your vocalists by allowing em time off and arrange back up singers that can step in and even if the back up is not as great a singer as the main one...( or you'd be working with them ?) least a healthy voice which maybe lacks a little tone is better than a great singer (when healthy) missing all the high notes and sounding aweful and toneless as they try sing thru a bad flu or throat infection ..............
anyway that my take on how to treat vocal infections and how i treat my vocalists...... " the show must go on " and " just push through the pain" does not apply to vocalists it just does more damage ...... .
Good advice Keira,, thanks ?
