Hi,
I called all the big music shops to get locking tuners for my Strat, but nobody seems to have them in stock.
Ideally I would want staggered tuners. Any advice please?
My Strat always needs to be tuned down, for some reason I cannot fathom. So I'm thinking lock tuners will solve this?
I should mention I removed my trem arm, would this affect the tuning?
Thanks!

I'm no expert, but I'd think that locking tuners would only help if you had the opposite problem (ie you always have to retune upwards). Wait for someone with a more informed opinion though...
If the only thing you removed from the trem is the arm, this won't affect the tuning. How are you storing the guitar when you're not playing it? If it's not in a case then the problem could just be big temperature and humidity swings overnight. Also, has the guitar been for a setup recently?

If it goes sharp it's not the tuners. Most probable suspect is the nut.
Could also be the cold hey, but then the strings would start of sharp and not gain somehow gain tension while you play. So my guess is the nut needs lubing or it's cut for a thinner guage string than what you're currently using.

+1 on the nut. With a Strat it can also be the string retainers on the headstock. Both prime candidates for string binding.
I usually get the Schallers from Stewmac. Sperzels are also good designs and have three post heights (as opposed to the Schaller's two), but I had a run of bad Sperzels a few years ago when they changed to Asian production and stopped using them.
There is a good chance you can get a local store to order Schaller from Tuerk (I think they are still the distributors), but they don't keep the full range (nearly impossible to do anyway).
I'm still hoping someone starts stocking the Gotoh 510 minis in versions that are both locking and staggered. Gotoh make them, but no-one stocks them...

Thanks for the infoz guys.
My guitar stands upright on a stand overnight, or sometimes hangs by the neck until... out of tune, hehe.
My strings are .009's. The guitar was set up by the guitar guy (Thomas) in the shop where I bought the Strat.
