Hi Andrew. Welcome to the forum.
Well, you seem to be able to play. OK... you're allowed in the clubhouse. ;D
Pretty good recording quality, although the guitar seems to blend into the background a little much in places. I quite liked F22, which was the most melodic.
Who are your main influences? Satch and the usual suspects?
NorioDS
Holy crap! Awesome stuff ?
Where can we buy the CD?!
andrewjbryson
lol shot , yes f22 is my favourite , its fun to play
im dead keen to re-record these ideas, wif my new pickup set (FRED, HS, SUPER-D)
i know exactly what u mean, the guitar drops in the background wif all the MIDI stuff,
these new pickups , give a Dirtier , more punchy tone than the Ibanez stock
so it should solve the problem....
my 5 main influences : satch, vai , petrucci , marty friedman, guthrie govan

Hey AndrewJ, Just had a listen now, Brilliant stuff I must add. Really Brilliant, I would like to hear some more soon.

hi all
just uploaded a new track .... called "never again"

enjoy...

Dude
I only now got time to listen to your stuff. Man good job! Fantastic playing, how long have you been playing for ?
andrewjbryson
thanx bud... been playing for 11 going on 12
and yourself
cain
Yeah, that playing time explains it all. Ive been playing for 2 years, ill upload some tracks when i get money to buy a sound card i can record through ☹
andrewjbryson
soundcards soundcards
i was using an oldschool Diamond Monster Sound (700 ms latency)
now ive just switched to my AMD onboard Sound
A great "valuefor money" card is the MAYA 44 , they retail for about R999
alond wif Cubase you can do some nice recordings wih this card
AlanRatcliffe
The ESI cards are quite good - I have two of the Waveterminal 192 PCI cards and am quite happy with them. The Maya 44 is a great card for the money.

What do you use for backing tracks?
I'd like to find a program that I can easily use to create drum and bass tracks and then me and my mates can jam over it.
Suggestions?
andrewjbryson
Cubase SX , get sum VST 's
incase you dont know what vst's are?
Virtual Studio Technology (VST) allows you to program notes through the Key Editor or Drum Editor
and thus create a "back track"
Cubase supports VST technology , so once you got Cubase SX, your hunt for VST's begin
there are tons out there, some are legal and free, and others cost alot
i use an old program called IK media' "SampleTank" for bass
Steinberg Hypersonic - Drums & Extras
Propellerheadz Reason - Cymbals , percussion & samples
Waldorf Attack (Additional Drums)
and finally T-racks for Mastering

Holy crap! Looks like I've got a lot to learn still ?
Thanks, Andz, much appreciated!

Alan, im looking forward to your review on Dimarzio Air Zone Pup
Why wait? It's gonna be a while to get around to the actual review, but I can give you the short version now: Great!
Now for the slightly longer, but still short version ? : Pretty much how DiMarzio describe it. Scooped sound - lots of bass response to make up for a bright guitar or a basswood body/Floyd Rose type shredder, but a much lower output. So if you like the tonal balance of the Tone Zone, but don't like the over-the-top output, this is probably what you are looking for. It does have the almost vocal "ow" sound when you dig in, much like a good PAF, but with more balls.
Really expressive and dynamic, growls when you dig in and even with some drive it cleans up nicely when you back off the volume control. It loves an amp on the verge, so you get to control how much crunch you get out of the two by modifying how you play. Works well clean, crunchy and dirty without ever losing definition, even driven hard. Parallels really well and the split coil tone is one of the best I've heard for a humbucker.
andrewjbryson
sounds sweeet man
What would you recommend putting on a Yamaha Pacifica 112 Hum-Sin-Sin
I want to achieve a true Vintage American Strat sound.....
Should I try Seymour Duncan (Strat Replacement type's) for the neck and middle
However, having said that, Im tempted to whack either the Air Norton or Air Zone on the Yamaha

Well, any decent single should work. For a vintage sound, usually you are going to go for lower output pickups. Fender and Duncan both make good quality singles. For noiseless, Kinman Traditionals, DiMarzio Areas or Bill Lawrence. Do you plan to get a different pickguard and make it SSS?

Very different pickups. The only problem with doing that is that you end up with quite a volume jump between your bridge humbucker and the two singles. A PAF type vintage output 'bucker is already a bit of a jump (especially if you do go for vintage single-coils) and to put in a higher output 'bucker makes that even worse. But then again, you may like that sort of thing ?.

Amazing playing dude. What setup do you use ? guitars , pedals amps ? Looks like a strat your holding ?
andrewjbryson
thanx francis appreciate it bud
my setup is pretty basic
Japanese Ibanez RG570 equipped with Dimarzio P/ups (FRED, HS , SUPERDISTORTION)
Yamaha Pacifica
Boss GT8
Laney Fusion TF200
I basically record straight from the GT8 into the line in on my soundcard
However for a "fuller" sound it is quite a good idea to combine the line out signal with an additional mic signal...
with a mic placed infront of the amp (Rode NT2 / Shure SM57)
The fun starts , once you have 2 of the same signals (mic & line)
you can create a massive stereo spectrum with the use of Panning and Reverb Sends....
?
all the recordings you hear on myspace are simply Lined out from the GT8 , sometimes doubled up ,
but no Mic feed....
the guitar in the pic is a yamaha pacifica
Im thinking about going the S-S-S for true vintage sound....
