? WE know DLR is the quintessential rock god of the late 70's/80's having wrestled the title from plant who was IT a decade previously.

VH was good time party music with DLR ...go out , cruise the streets , have a couple of beers , chat up honies and get laid.....no complex lyrics , no "devil worhsipping crap, no history lessons, no dark references to war and mayhem, just good time rock n roll ....however eddie and dave were the consumate muscicians being great at what they do.....

i am looking forward ot this album , i wil buy it ...i will play it and i will like it .... 8)

Me too! What I will miss is Mike Anthony's high harmonies - IMHO a hugely important (and overlooked/underrated) component of the classic Van Halen Mk1 sound.

Nor am I, I think they are one of those Bands that have said what they wanted to say. For die hard fans like ICM only ?

You never can tell. Generally I take the line that Squonk takes here, but there are counter-examples. The one that comes to my mind is Television who reunited over a dozen years after their previous album and produced an album of new material that was good as anything they'd done as a band or on solo albums.

I would be interested to hear Van Halen III with Cherone, anyone familiar with it?

I saw a Live Concert on SABC 3 with VH III and it was mediocre and forgettable, nothing new, almost like the new Deep Purple Album.

I rate Cherone very highly but I think he needs to be in Extreme, Nuno does make him sound good as well with his backing and harmony vocals.

The new single is a bit stale sounding, hopefully the rest is better, you can't leave the fans hanging for what, almost 15yrs, and then just put out a so-so album.

Hopefully they don't go out like Mohamed Ali

Watched the new single Youtube vid, I used to be a big VH fan back in the early '90s, before I discovered the blues, and I'm underwhelmed to be honest: DLR's voice has, I think, improved over the years but on the whole the new single sounds over produced, couldn't discern a bass line but perhaps that's just the fact that it's a Youtube video and running through my laptop's speakers. It's sure as hell not vintage VH and Michael Anthony's falsetto-ish harmonies are conspicuously absent.

Also, Eddie's playing on a rosewood board all of a sudden? WTF is that all about??

@ICM, yeah, Valerie turned out to be a salad dodger of note, quite hot when she was young though, but looks like Wolfgang inherited her appetite for pies...
