That's very pretty buddy!! I'm also torn on the white pickguard, suppose it's the more 'sane' way to go but have to agree it's a shame it hides so much.
makepeace
Nah.. You HAVE to go with the white pickguard. This is an avant garde take on a classic Stret is it not?
MikeM
Jono pretty much has it. It is supposed to be the classic black strat - just taken to the next level. I usually find flame tops gaudy, especially the PRS tight perfect flame. So I chose to have it come accross as more subtle than the regular flame thing, and it has turned out exactly how I want it.

Very nice!
Im not a flame guy, but i can appreciate a good looking guitar!!!
When do you get her??
Reinhard
That looks great Mike!

I missed this one too. Dude, what a stunner... She's going to be one special lady!
MikeM
I should hopefully have her in my hands in less than a month. HOPEFULLY. Ordered a nice SKB case for her as well. Gonna make my LP look like a fatty ?

very nice Mike congarts, also not sure about the white pickguard .....
one almost expects to see the whole top with only pickups and knobies sticking out
Tasty though

"Gotoh height adjustable locking tuners - Kluson style, Callaham hardware pretty much all round, Kinman Woodstocks"
- All good choices there.
Will be following this one closely, looking forward to the end result
MikeM
Andrew, I ended up changing the specs a bit. Using the Callaham tuners until I can afford those Gotohs, but pickups are going to be diff.
I am going to have a set wound with an A5/A3 split, 5.85k neck, mid pickup also at 5.85k with a tap there and awg43 wound ontop of that till 7.5k, and a 6.8k bridge. However I will be going for a flat stagger to account for the 9.5-14 radius on that neck. I basically will be using the hot tap on the mid pickup as a solo switch on a push/push pot. It's a very authoritive tone, decent mid push and decent boost.

I was thinking the same............almost a shame to hide all that beautiful grain with a piece of plastic.

So Mikey, when is this beaut arriving on our shores? Keen to see it assembled.
MikeM
Jono, a friend of mine has a conference in the US sometime. The catch is, it's sometime and the exact date has not been specified yet. It was expected to be from around this week to next, and there is still chance of that. So really just waiting on that.
Skipping customs + shipping ftw ?

I used to think this too and have built a few with rear routed controls. But ultimately for me, a Strat looks odd without a pickguard (regardless of how nice the wood is) - it's such an integral part of the design and lines of the guitar.
MikeM
Without the pickguard, it would have the classic underpinnings I want. That and it would just look gaudy ?
Norman86
So is she on her way yet???
MikeM
Sadly there have been even more delays, and I just don't have the R4k or so it'll cost to bring her in myself.
