MikeM He picked up some of this oddly figured maple.. Not sure what it'd actually be called. Did some research and it seems to not REALLY fit in any category. It seems to be somewhere between a flame and quilt, but very sparse. I like it ? This is a pic of another board of it.
Neon-Gecko I still think your first choice is the winner there Mike. But then again it's not my guitar so go with your gut. I'm busy making myself a Tele and obviously had a huge range of necks to choose from. Birdseye, Flame, Plain... and I chose something similar to what you have there, don't see that sort of grain pattern in Maple too often. ?
MikeM This is shot under some weird and wonderful tungsten light, supposedly it's easier to look for flaws like this? However the burst has been redone, a little narrower than before ?
