That doesn't do the amp any justice at all. Bad player, bad sounding room, too much drive when he should be clean, too much reverb, the video mic is picking up the acoustic sound from the guitar and the video cam is compressing the audio.

The Ant Glynn clip is far better:

But even there, I notice that channel one drive has a gritty quality and a loose low end that not everyone is going to like. Tastes vary...

So...
I had a fortunate turn of events...
And i have placed my order for the Albion TCT 35 Head, and the GLS 212 Cabinet...
(Along with another SnapJack cable with 2 straight ends!)

So i am hopefully getting it soon!

Thanks to John Silver and Mike Pepper at Audiosure for getting the amps to me to test originally, as well as Sam (owner) at Musicmate Boksburg!

Also hopeful that i get the original Cherry stained wood and not the black... While the black is nice, the cherry is nicer imo!

Personally, i prefer the head and cab version to the combo!
Thats what i have ordered!!

THIS 100W head sounds "beter" to my ears than the 35W head i tested several times now.

soooooo...
I picked up half my amp today... Only the head was in stock ☹
the cab will only be here in the week... Then, pics!

Anyone want to test my baby out, just shout, then we can arrange something!
We could try organise a get together, and amps could be brought, for a test/ shootout!

Anyways, im just sad i cant power the damn thing up...
And, cherry is such a hawt colour!

? congrats Norman , you been wanting this for ages.......... and it's now a reality ......... awesome ,

i must say the "era" of the affordable BUT well made tube amp is upon us.........

and i read the guitar player write up and they demo'd it against a DrZ which is impressive..... and NOT against a laney or the ibanez tube amp..... so definitely comparing it against a top end amp.........

and it seems as with most amps(even my beloved Fender princeton when bought new the accepted recomendation is to change out the stock speaker asap) so the stock speaker may be the 1st mod......... as suggested by guitar player magazine..and if just that puts the Albion in a similar tone bracket to a DrZ then wow that sounds impressive in my books........

so to me sounds way impressive ....... and would love to hear it sometime..........

the only thing i would like to have seen different (but i know it's a cost thing cos the laney's and the other low cost tube amps all do it ) is the digital reverb ......i would love to see a model with tube/spring reverb

Nice Norman! Nothing like owning your first valve amp! Enjoy! Hope that cab arrives soon! Is the head and cab priced seperately? And how much did it cost?

They are priced seperately yes...
More expensive than the combo, but i thought it was worth it!
Price wise, i cant really say, as i got a bit of a better deal due to the way i had to get someone to get stock in the first place!

Just to fill you in, Audiosure's price list shows the following:

ALBI-TCT35H Albion 35watt Twin Channel Head with Reverb 5995.00

ALBI-TCT35C Albion 35watt 1 x12" Twin Channel Combo with Reverb 6995.00

ALBI-GLS212 Albion 2 x 12" Speaker Cabinet 140watt Max 2795.00

ALBI-GLS412 Albion 4 x 12" Speaker Cabinet 280watt Max 4495.00

Those are the retail prices before discount!
However, TOMS can organise the rig (head and cab) for R5400 or thereabouts...
Its more expensive than i have paid btw!
But im sure you could get it from any retailer for around that price!

Cool Norm, and congrats ....... they do sound quite lekker (from the clips I've heard). I was not impressed with the Namm interview with the guy who owns Albion. Not the product, the guy himself .......
