Sanding sealers in general have a high solvent content
I think you'll find that they have a high solid content, a stearate to make sanding easier and don't shrink as much as a topcoat will. Still softer than a topcoat though.
Anyone have any better ideas in this regard that I may use in future, I will surely appreciate it?
If the original finish is nitro, then nitro is still the best to fill (blends better), but it does take a long time to do right and you have to be careful of shrinkage. If it's not nitro or you want to fill relatively quickly, seal, apply colour coats and then build up clear with good quality water thin cyanoacrylate - builds up quickly, cures hard and crystal clear and bonds well with any finish.
