Some of you may feel a bit hard done by as regards post deletion, but my priority here was to nip that discussion in the bud and so I just cut all the way back. Please don't take it personally.

I have noticed over the years on this forum people posting taboo topics such as politics and religion. However some of these topics are interesting and some of us would like to see other forumites views and information. Instead of forever having to police it why don't we just have a Topic called Tabooed subjects. That way if a thread is going wayward then it gets moved there and then we can all choose whether we want to go there or not. I still believe that people should be censured for making personal attacks and this could be moderated in the normal way.

The problem being that those two topics always veer into unpleasantness and outright rancour which eventually spills over and begins affecting other discussion. Yes, there are interesting discussions to be had on these topics if people can keep their heads. However, opinions in these matters are strongly held and defended and somehow they always bring extremists and trolls out of the woodwork. So I'd rather not have them at all.
