Hi everyone, I have just received my new Tonerider Classic Blues middle pickup but I have a problem. I just realized that the old pickup on my Ibanez S770 was screwed directly into the wood and the Tonerider, as I now understand, is supposed to be attached to a scratchplate. Now the screws are too short, I don't have the rubber to put under it anymore and I need longer screws.
Can anyone give me some advice please? I'm sure I can do it myself but before I do I need some advice from you experts.

Well you just need the rubber tubing (which is just surgical tubing) and the right screws (which not just longer, but also self tapping). Ask your local store if they have any (it's the kind of thing stores tend to accumulate).
Otherwise, if you don't come right locally, PM me and I'll send you some (I also accumulate things like that ?).

Wow, second person this week fitting Toneriders into such a guitar.
My advice - You will have to find foam-rubber strips and long thin selftappers and do a bit of "engineering" yourself. I usually go to Cape Town Rubber and get those compressible rubber strips with the self adhesive tape on the one side that they use for insulating doors etc, the self-tappers you should get from any hardware store that stocks a good variety of screws. You're in East London so there will be similar suppliers there. Stick the rubber under the pickup, screw in the selftappers and set the height of the pickups in relation to the strings. Just remember to get selftappers that are THINNER than the Tonerider screws otherwise you might break the base-plate of the pickup.
The idea is for the self-tappers to sit freely in the holes of the pickup and not thread into the existing thread. The compressible rubber underneath should stabilize the pickup and keep its position square.
Keep us updated!

Thanks everyone for the advice. My dad had a roll of the rubber stuff with the sticky bits on the one side as well as the thin selftapper screws. We had the pickup perfect within an hour this morning. The Tonerider is just SOOOO much nicer sounding than the (stacked ?????) Ibanez pickup that was in there before.
Thanks again.
Belinda.
