We wanted to record something off the acoustic tonight and found the pick up sound got progressively softer from E6 to E1 with E1 being almost inaudable... ☹
We then tested on an amp and found the same thing.
Could this be the under-saddle PUP gone south or could it be the electronics. It's an Ibanez Prefix Plus-T preamp on a AW1000CE
We replaced the battery with a new one with the same results
??? ??? ??? ???

I had a similar problem a year or so ago with my acoustic, but probably not for the same reason. I was confuzzled with the fact that my high E string was completely inaudible, until I noticed that, somehow, the white saddle in the bridge was no longer sitting in the groove, instead it was in the groove on the low E side, but was resting on the top part of the bridge on the high E side. So that was easy enough to fix. I'm not really an expert on the pups for acoustics, but somebody should be able to shed some light on that aspect...

Yup - sounds like a saddle issue. Usually it's just not seating properly in the slot, but can also be debris under the saddle or pickup or that the saddle is too tight a fit. Check for these things on the treble side of the saddle.
Most modern USTs are a single strip of piezoelectric polymer (if it's the proper Prefix pickup it definitely is), so if something goes wrong with the pickup, it affects all the strings. Similar thing with the preamp.

Thanks guys. the guitar did go in relatively recently for a setup and I know the bridge was worked on.
We did use it with the pickup after the setup and all seemed fine but with this extra cold up here lately anything could have happened in the mean time.
Off to the Tech it goes...... ?

Update.....
Guitar went in for a checkup and turned out to be the bridge not sitting flush on the piezo strip.
Slight sanding of the base of the bridge, new strings and all is well......... ? ?
It now sound awesome plugged in......

Glad it got fixed ? Always a nuisance when fiddly things go wrong...
