Hehehehe ?
How long did you struggle?
Also, 999 posts. Cool!
Only a couple hours or so. ? But that's only half the story...
Got some Toneriders to replace some existing pups. Didn't realise I had to file down the mountings to make them fit this particular guitar. Did I have a metal file at home? Nooooo. Of course not.
Bought file. Realised the existing PuPs were mounted on some adhesive foam. Did I have adhesive foam? Nooooo (the sequel). Of course not.
Bought adhesive foam. Installed pickups. Thought I was clever using previous digital pic of old wiring. Solder solder...solder.
Clean up. Restring. Plug in.
Hum? On humbuckers? Neck sounds...ok-ish, not great. Bridge sounds awful. Coil tap doesn't.
Realised I've obviously wired them wrong, so did some reading and found a wonderful diagram of how all the different manufacturers use the same colour wires, but for different things. I mean there are 4 different colours right? 4x4 permutations = 16 possibilities. You'd swear they've conspired to use them all.
Anyhow, figured out what I need to do, and will fix up in the morning. Pics and sound clips tomorrow maybe. ?
1k posts. God I'm old.
