who do you folks get to value your kit. I have approached 4 stores and none want to help me
they either
will only quote on kit they stock
do not want to quote on a reasonable replacement guitar (for my old guits)
do not reply after they have been sent the list
do not want to valuate my old kit
what gives?
this is driving me nuts... how do you guys get your valuations in writing??

Lazy salespeople. >☹ Understandable as it can take a long time to sort out values & replacements, etc. (time that could be spent selling and making commission), and there is no return on it other than goodwill. So while it's part of their jobs, no-one wants to do it unless they have no choice. If you don't get help in the store, approach the manager and he'll assign someone to do it.
Also, do as much of the legwork as possible yourself. Make the list, chase down valuations on any vintage stuff and figure out what a suitable replacement will be for everything that is not current and list all the retail prices. Much easier and quicker for a salesperson if all they have to do is copy your info on to a quote form and sign it. BTW - be realistic, otherwise you'll end up overinsured and overpay on your premiums and, if the worst happens they will still refuse to pay out.

Claudio,
most insurance companies have specialists these days, who should assist with collectors’ items where the values could be deemed different depending on who one talks to, once a value has been agreed on the items normally become specified on your policy, which means a higher premium.
Also there is a greater risk of loss if the items are taken out of the house regularly so the premium will be loaded for this too
Take as many photos as possible and include this as evidence of ownership
