I have never been to one of these weekends, but I have had a few lessons from Dan a few years back, he is a really great teacher and I am sure just about anyone at just about any level will learn something valuable from him.

Wow. Would love to attend one in future. Price is also less than I expected. Take it he does this every year?

I have recently confirmed a spot on the workshop and am looking forward to this one.
I know someone who's been on one of these workshops and he spoke very highly of Dan's teaching ability and of the content of the workshop.
Maybe I'll finally learn how to do those damn 'reach-around / Thumb' chords the blues guys do so easily.... :-[
Yes, some may scoff at my 'disability', but for the life of me I cannot seem to get these right :sorry:
Anybody else going??

I'll second IceCreamMan's comments regarding Dan Patlansky's guitar weekend and I'll add some comments of my own.
The atmosphere over the weekend was absolutely awesome. The workshops covered topics such as licks/riffs, chords/harmony, scales, gear/tone etc etc. Loads of 'on the fly' examples were provided by Dan & the band. All questions were given respectful treatment by Dan, often leading to more topics of discussion. While primarily blues oriented, the material/hints/tips etc can be applied to most other genres of guitar playing as well. Private lessons allowed each attendee to pick Dan's brain and get tips and hints on whatever they wanted. The jam session at the end was the best fun I've had in a while. There were some very talented guitarists from all walks of life, who really brought a load of very interesting variety to the jam. There are probably some photos of the jam, which I hope to receive from one of my 'band-mates' and I'll post them as soon as I receive them.
In addition to meeting some great guys, all 3 members of the band were great company from the start - Dan(no intro necessary), Clint (Bass/barman/photographer) and Andy (Drums/comedian). The mini concert the band put on after the jam was outstanding, with as much, if not more energy than some of their shows I have seen. Dan's guitar skills never cease to leave me utterly gobsmacked, but I also gained new respect for the band members, Clint and Andy, who not only very patiently put up with us during jam session rehearsals, but who also put in as much energy as Dan in the mini-concert, convincing me that this was not just them reluctantly throwing some crumbs to the plebs. These guys truly enjoy what they do, and it certainly shows.
I left the weekend feeling a lot clearer about where I am with the guitar, even though it's not as rosy as I thought it was, but more importantly I'm more positive about the way forward regarding my practice regime, with a few brand new things to try out. I certainly have a long way to go, but I learned some things on this workshop which will help me get so much more enjoyment and satisfaction out of getting there.

Hey ICM , can you or someone else who was there, please elaborate a bit more about this past weekend .
How many attendees ? , What did you learn ? , any clips of the jam at the end ?....etc , etc . thnx
Hey Joe
BobC mentioned a lot which answers some of your questions ,, i will answer some of those not answered ..
there were +- 27 attendees. Me , i learnt loads but priamirly this weekend gave me motivation to be more creative. I was gobsmacjked at the level of sdtudents there and i was towards the very back of the queue thats for sure ?. A great weekend and there were students there that blew my mind. The weekend was divided into 4 workshops with a lot of free time to mess around with similarly minded ppl and to o jam with others an to learn from others. All in all well worth it and i will go again and again...
