Springs was pretty scarey in those days, I had family in Daggafontein.
Which leads us to the old question.... ?
I recall going to the Riebeeck Hotel with James Phillips and Rats/Corporal Punishment drummer O'Henry (or was it "Ou Henry"?). It was a colourful place and they told me that the weekend before somebody had tried to start a fire during a Corporals gig.
Springs suddenly and unexpectedly threw up several bands in the late 70s. I remember Hogs Norton well. A couple of years ago David Allen of the Hogs turned up at TJs. I was amazed and delighted to see him playing after so long. There was a whole SA punk thing happening in Springs.
Jonothan Handley was a quite a creative dude in his time. Saw the rats a couple of times, I think once when I saw them they were billed as Marconi's Mice.
That album was a good one, have you got it on CD Bob? Do you know where we can get it?
I can't remember where I got mine TBH. It's a reissue - it has extra tracks on it. I'm seldom wild about the extra tracks thing and in this case they jar a bit - different line up, different production, different sound. See Ray's post.
