There have indeed been GFSA events in JHB, though not recently, unless you count TJ's open mic night - there were 5 or 6 GFSAers at the last one.
There's an open mic night at TJ's again next week, and that might be a good meeting place. Those who are so inclined can even bring a guitar and put their name down for a performance slot.
If the evening is truly awful (the last few haven't been) or if you're choking for a ciggy you can always adjourn to the main bar which is right next door.
