Roger Waters - The Wall Live

pieterkza

Roger Waters is doing a world tour of The Wall, which finishes off in 2012. He was in South Africa in 2001 for the "In the Flesh" tour, which was nothing other than mindblowing.

This time around, the entire African continent does not feature for The Wall tour, and I for one cannot sit idly by while one of the greatest classic rock music pieces EVER is played to millions of fans all over the planet, but not on African soil.

So, in a feeble attempt and out of sheer desperation to get Roger Waters to at least consider SA for a stopover, I have drafted this:

http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/bring-roger-water-the-wall-live-to-south-africa.html

Please support this petition and maybe, just MAYBE, we could get the opportunity to see this musical genius one last time before he hangs up his guitar.

Thank you!!

With you 1 000% - petition signed.

To get massive traction have to use Facebook, etc. I'll send out some e-mails and try and do the FB thing over the weekend.

Try your hand at a Facebook group if youre on FB. Link to the petition url, nice wall and RW photo's etc. That way you get to have people join the group AND sign the petition. Once on the group, easy to keep track of numbers automatically, communicate to everyone at once, etc. You still keep the petition as the formal document to forward to Waters. Everyone can then share the group link with their own FB friends, and soon the thing reaches hundreds/thousands.

Facebook is like a virus, but an incredible way to promote a cause/event. You - as the originator of the project - should be the Administrator of the group. So if youre on FB,give it a go. If not, PM me and we can see how I can help.

Yours in the struggle,
Riaan ?

was that 2001 ??? cant be ...i recall like it was yesterday?

A petition's a good idea, unlkely to amount to much but a good idea nonetheless.

May be better petitioning big concerts or something like that ..or saving an goign to europe to see it

If it's anything like the original Wall tour, we don't have a venue large enough to stage it. There were only a handful of venues in the world suitable.

Didn't think of the size issue. May be the reason. Also, based on 2001 figures, just figured it wasn't financially viable to do another long-haul trek?

@Pieterkza - I like ICM's approach. Maybe Big Concerts would already have considered it, done feasibility, etc and have the actual answer to hand. They plan their concerts way in advance and are unlikely not to have wanted to do this one.

Yes, how great was that 2001 show? And to see Snowy White as a bonus was incredible!!!! 8)

I'll only support the petition if David Gilmour joins the tour. ?

Just kidding, I'll settle for Doyle Bramhall any day of the week, he's also a genius (not sure if he's on the tour).

Problem is, the exchange rate, we can't pay Roger enough to include SA on the tour schedule.
