Testing, works but for some reason its always on but thats a minor problem. Also want to wire a LED and true bypass.

Sounds pretty good, its really quiet which is suprising, no buzz or anything and it gets quite dirty. A TS9 has a mid hump, this is quite the opposite! Busy with the casing to mount it all 8)

Excluding enclosure and 3pdt switch (which I dont have yet) probably R60

A 3PDT will cost you around R25. And an regular MXR enclosure costs around R85.

The 3pdt's I got from the states set me back about R40 each with postage etc... But you can get MXR style cases from RS for around R50 a case. I haves used a good couple of them and they work like a charm!

I built it from this diagram, was simple enough. The stock Timmy uses a JRC4459 opamp which I couldnt source, but mine is socketed which means I can switch it any time.

Edit: I left off the feedback circuit, anyone know where to get or have a JRC4559 op amp please let me know ?

Edit 2: seems mantech may have.. will pop past during lunch.

Ordered two JRC4559 opamps from Mantech, they will be here monday. A whole R1.75 odd each ?

Pedal is now in a case, I re-used an old one I had lying around, will buy a new one when my 3PDT switch arrives and I can drill holes that are the correct size.

So how does it sound, firstly Im playing it through my Bassman with my Les Paul Studio, the pedal is different from say a Tubescreamer in the way the bass/treble controls work, from what I can see they are as normal when the knobs are fully off and you then add the frequencys. Drive goes from nothing to what I think is very fuzzy, think I need to A/B this with KayDubs Timmy to see if I have a clone or something else ?

Ok, fiddled with it more yesterday and Im not sure I've built a Timmy, but it is something interesting and useful regardless. First thing I need to tweak is the gain pot, its a 1m audio pot but from about 0-1 is nothing from 1.5 to about 4 is full gain then after that (4-10) it makes no real difference. Would lowering the pot value to say a 500k pot give me a more accurate sweep?

IINM, Paul changed to a 500K after the first models - also note the pots should be audio taper, which is more likely the real problem than the value.

I have the same problem with my Amp Eleven's volume control (which has a near identical circuit aside from not having the two extra diodes and a few small value changes) - Graeme has found me a replacement pot to drop in.

yeah, the components is cheap, just the casing, switch and pots that add up the price.

As with many things, you're not just paying for the components when you buy the original. You're also paying for the time and effort the designer put into the development and fine tuning of the actual circuit in the first place.

Spot on! Swopped the pot for a 1m Log pot and my issue is solved. For some reason I had a linear one in 8)
