I see Tommy has had a mention on GFSA before, but here's another one anyway ,,
I haven't got a clue what he's trying to say in the beginning LOL,......
and check out that run that he does at around 0:52
That Maton guitar of his sounds out of this world, and as for his playing whoo-hooo this guys good. :applause: :yup:

chet was one of tommy's earliest - and strongest - influences. but he was also into the shadows. listening to the recording, he didn't realise there were two guitarists at work, so he taught himself to play what we would call both parts simultaneously.
as for his maton, he primarily if not exclusively plays his signature models, the TE-1 and TE-2 (hmm. wonder what the TE stands for...). don't ask me what the difference is between the two, but he is notoriously physically demanding of his instruments. you can see a little of it in this clip, where he uses the neck to create a vibrato effect. you'll also notice the top looks more than a little worn. apparently he lightly sands the tops in places to get a better sound out of them for his signature percussive playing style.
the man is a legend, i'll second that. i only have one of his albums, apparently not the best of them. i don't care, it's brilliant. i don't know if there are levels of brilliance. are there levels of brilliance? i don't care. i may have mentioned that.
there's an article on him in the third issue of the guitar interactive magazine that comes with a guitar world subscription or something, so this stuff i mentioned isn't part of my brilliant general tommy emmanuel knowledge... ?
