I decided I should attempt this song (it's one of those songs that you have to play eventually, like Smoke On The Water, Stairway to Heaven, Back In Black etc) and here is the result. ?

Hey. Really well played. Can't comment on the recording because of the system I was listening on.
Only crit is that it sounded a little stiff most of the way through. Purple haze needs to sound pretty wild. If it's too controlled it loses some of the point. But then you did a lot of that with your solo at the end.

Agree with Singed, try and watch a vid of Hendrix playing this to get an idea of how "into it" he is. Not so easy with your own home recordings of course.
Some of the notes you're hitting in the intro sound a little different to what I'm used to as well, but that's ok. One think I'd recommend is a little tweak on the G note in the opening licks so that instead of
taw taw TAW tooooowwwwwwwww
you get
taw taw TWAIII toooooooowwwwww

but the playing was good, enjoyed the improv solo's,
