Having done two big pedal orders from PGS ($1000+), I've never paid more than R100 on receiving the package. The nifty PGS packagers mark the parcel as a warranty return, so you never pay 14% on a big value like 8 grand.
Hah! My last one from PGS, SARS held onto it
because of that and asked for proof of payment. They are also within their rights to sieze it if it has been misdeclared, so rather ask PGS to list the invoice value.
I see the PO now charges a R30 clearance fee on top of VAT too, so I paid R170 on a $140 invoice.
