That tele is in my neck of the woods... Must. Not. Even. Think. Of. It.

But the reason I came back to this thread is that I picked up my SX this evening for the first time in about a week (I have got three other guitars since then so I have been preoccupied) and apart from the top e string which needed a quarter turn, it was still perfectly in tune. And that was also after talking down about the tuners after I first got it...

I bought a top loader SX Tele off Gumtree for R800.00, slapped in a pair of DiMarzio Twang Kings, changed the tuners, painted the body, ( previous owner had stripped all of the finish off), rehaped the headstock to be closer to the Fender Tele shape and good to go. The only time I put it down was when I acquired my Squier CV50 Tele (but that's another story !) The SX's are really good value, especially if you are going to mod them. The necks are great. Everything else can be sorted.

I'm still loving mine. Beating on it the most actually at the moment and it stays in tune just fine. I've only changed the input jack and the neck nut, I've decided to keep the rest as is and enjoy it.

Guido just did some minor pup lift on it and that really woke her up, nect is a decent set up/ re-string and she's good to go. .

A quick pick of my SX.........first picture with no extras, basically the way that I got it.

This was actually the picture that I took when I wanted to sell it. I was meaning to hook up with ET to get the scratch plate as the guitar had the mounting holes for one. Anyway, work commitments kept us from meeting, so this morning a friends calls me and tells me that he's stripping an epiphone and do I want the parts for nothing.

Hell yes. So I took the disk for the selector knob as well as the guard, metal plate and thought that the guitar looked a bit more complete.

Also decided that she's not for sale.................I'm loving her too much.

Oh man, I'm loving this post!

My very first electric was a black SX Strat, I used to play it through my hifi amp!
I was very confused when i plugged it in for the first time, as I thought all electric guitars had that distorted sound of-the-bat =D

Live and learn!

I've always wandered about that guitar, how it actually played and sounded with proper equipment, and proper playing for that matter! As you can see how little I knew about anything back then, my memories of the thing are useless.

Our preliminary reaction to any "lesser brand", is usually a smirk, but sometimes if you find yourself trying it out, you realise how wrong your perception was!
Ask me, I've been playing my Aria-Pro Dinky copy (Which I got after the SX) for like 11 years now.
I've been through plenty of guitars, mostly Epiphones, and even a Gibson SG too, but I refuse to sell my Aria!

The guitar's not even that great, just grows on you though, like a limpy dog that you've adopted =D
Can't bring yourself to send em back to the pound!

I'm really considering grabbing one of these SX telllies now!

Could you maybe tell me where you found the Sx les paul copies? I upgraded one of the thinline tele's with the USA Swamp ash bodies. Really good guitar now!
Installed some Dimarzio twang king pickups and changed the pots and switch.

Not sure where you are, but there's a black SX LP copy going for R999 at Cash Converters in Heathway Centre in Northcliff... Good condition structurally, one or two paint scratches on the back but nothing bad. Didn't play it, but you'll probably want to change the electronics anyway.

I'm from Pretoria. I've always seen the strats and teles in shops but not les pauls. I've seen Orange music sell the les paul pack onn their website but I'm not sure if they're the same.
