I have a relative in London who is coming home for a wedding in September. Thinking about asking him to bring a guitar in for me. What will be the best way to transfer money to him for payment ? Anybody else try doing it like this before?

No problem. There are 2 options.
1. Your friend pays for the guitar and pays the customs as well and you refund him here in SA, or
2. Get your bank to transfer the amount to his account in the UK, or if he/she has a SA account, you can transfer it into there directly.

If you want to send him the money, get his bank account details and his bank's SWIFT code and you can do it from your bank. There will be a charge for the transfer.

Aah, ok. Thanks. Easy as that hey? Any idea how much they may charge for the transfer?

Not exactly - you'll have to ask them. Probably as much as they can... ?

The foreign exchange section in your bank will do all that for you.

this is how i do it :

Each get a paypal account ,if you don thave one already. He submits an invoice to you and you pay it.

Paypal take like a small fee though but i have found it to be less than the banks charge. but check it all out.
