soundhole pickups?

Hi

Sorry if this has been asked before. I did try the search.

I'm not a huge player, but I have this old little acoustic guitar that I play on from time to time. I also have an old Marshall amp and was wondering what type of soundhole pickup would be good to get the sound in the vid below (My guitar is also the same size). The sound doesn't need to be exact. :?
Like I said, I'm not a huge player... so I'm looking for a cheap'ish pickup if possible.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Just about any soundhole pickup will do as long as it's a single coil (most are). That's the beauty of Seasick Steve - he proves time and again that it's the player not the equipment. He uses an old Harmony electric guitar pickup stuck on with duct tape.

Thanks. My brother might have a electric pickup. Then all I'll need is some duct tape ?

Why not a humbucker or one of those stacked 'bucker thingies. I'm sure I've seen humbuckers fitted to flat tops - though I can't quote book, chapter and verse.

You do get humbucker soundhole pickups (although some, like many of the Shadow "humbuckers" are really single-coils). However, to my ear, single-coils sound much better on steel string acoustics - faster transients and better high frequency response.

I read this thread this morning but needed time to search my box. There it was after more years than I care to remember.
I think it's a Guyatone or something like that. I used it on my old Epiphone 12 string before I had the Fishman fitted.
It's an "el-cheapo" but it still works...(tested it on my Ibanez into the PA) Needs to be held in place with some masking tape or prestik. :-[

you can also try stewmac, reasonable prices for soundhole pickups!
will be cheaper than buying here too... by quite a lot!

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm in Somerset West. My brother has an extra pickup for me. I'll see what it does over the weekend.
