Hi.
I have an Acoustic Tanglewood guitar which has developed string buzz on the low E-string (6th string) at the 12th fret (e note) and higher. Should I change out the strings? I have not fiddled with the Action.
Thanks in advance
Bob-Dubery
How recent is this buzz?
It's very dry in your neck of the woods right now. Flat top guitars that dry out too much may develop a buzz as the top shrinks, pulling the bridge down and thus lowering the action.
If this is recent then I'd try humidifying the guitar in it's case for 2 or 3 days and see if the buzz disappears.
Either buy a couple of humidifiers from a guitar shop, or make your own with sponge and zip loc bags or tupperware or some such. KEY THING - the sponge insert must be damp but not have water running off it.

Yeah it's pretty recent, maybe because of the extreme cold up here in JHB. I'll try the humidifying trick.

Yip I agree with Bob - I'm pretty sure the top dropped some because of the dry air.
If you put a straight edge on the fretboard at the neck joint area, you will probably notice a slight drop of the fretboard beyond the 12th and or 14th fret too, thus the buzz.
Humidify in the case is the buzz word, and keep it there that way until the rain comes...

Turns out my guitar needs a setup, my teacher took at look and said the necks' bending a little a good setup will sort it all out. ?
