10... Film & my job. ☹
A career in the printing industry, specialising in film. From colour separations on a galley camera to the scanning of transparencies.
Over a period of 30 years it has dwindled until film is now totally obsolete. I might as well be shovelling coal in a steam train. :-[
In your job I won't disagree. But film is still, at this point, used a lot in fashion photography - especially in Japan. Not everyone likes the icy digital skin-tones we've been seeing in magazines, and it's low cost for high quality with the medium format cameras they use, and it reduces the work load after shooting.
But that too will fade out. But film lives on as a hobbyist's and artist's medium and is unlikely to ever disappear. Already some famous stocks have been bought by niche companies - a trend which I'm sure will continue. One day Kodak will stop making Tri-X. But some small company will make Tri-X. And people like me will use it 'til we die ?
