My wife has been trying to get me into the band at the church she goes to, and they’re needing bass players, so I ended up buying a secondhand bass yesterday! Dont know if i’m going to join the ‘band’ but at least I now have a better instrument to mess around on – I’ve got a no-name bass from the 60s currently which is horrible. And it came with a little Ibanez practice amp.
So I got an SX – heard lots of good things about the brand – and although the one I got is primarily a beginners bass, the cheesy ‘Pirate’ series, I’m pretty happy with it. And it looks quite pretty too.
So now I’m just hammering out my favourite bass riffs before doing some ‘proper’ learning – Lovecats by the Cure, White Stripe’s Seven Nation Army, She Bangs The Drums by The Stone Roses, Uncle Pat by Ash and Longview by Green Day. Any other similar, pretty easy riffs you can recommend?
