well done... technically excellent, great riffing and production. My only gripes are that the sound for the most part is too generic djent... although the guitar work is a bit more varied than most.. And you have good hooks. and the vocals don't do anything for me at all. Too monotonous for them too have any effect, and I don't like the overall hoarse thing, but this is a taste issue I guess.
Are you guys close at all to putting on a live show? would love to see some live djent in SA. Hopefully at metal4africa winterfest...

S.A Meshuggah
Vocals are "whack", really odd
Guitaring's not bad, slightly sloppy for this type of music, you got to be super inhumanly tight, listen to Bleed from Meshuggah, it's a pretty dumb riff actually, but it's the speed and accuracy that give it it's power.
Overall not bad though, aside from the vocals I'd say this is one of the more better metal I've heard from this country, S.A death metal is beyond a bad joke.

Most metal is beyond a bad joke.... I dont know really... I always go into listening open minded, and I always come out going why do I hear the same music everywhere I go. I do not know metal, but it sounded like soulfly, and most stuff by Max Cavellera.... or who ever he is :/
To me it sounded tight, well recorded, but sounded like every other band, there is no wow, no creativity really for me.....

Hey guys. Thanks for your comments / criticisms. We like hearing what people think so we can try to be better in the future.
These songs were our first attempts at finding our style.
With regard to the playing / recording. All these songs are still in the writing phase and will be re-recorded for our full length album later this year.
We are doing all the production ourselves and have opted to instead embrace the digital-ness of our sound. We want to sound mechanical (and fake ?).
It has taken a few months to get the guitar sound right and to get the mix to sound where it is now, and will most likely be better on the full length.
With regard to the vocals. Like I said these are still in the demo stage and what you are hearing is the 3-4th time that he has ever sang / growled them.
so we agree the performance can be better. We have also been thinking of using less staccato phrasing and try and get more dynamics out of the vocals.
Learn by doing I guess...?
Umbilical is inspired by the Chaosphere Album. What really gives it away is the leads over the breakdown. I would say that Dual Vision is
more inspired by Animals as Leaders. Though these bands are regarded as Djent bands. We try and stay away from riding that wave and
do not refer to ourselves as a Djent band. Djent is the sound the guitar makes, not the genre even though it has become popular as a genre.
Like most SA bands would say Metallica are one of their biggest influences, ours would be the great gods of Technical / Math Metal....MESHUGGAH.
So when listening to Megalodon be reminded that we are going for a Meshuggah-esque approach without trying to be a blatant carbon copy.
With regard to playing live. I'm going to quote from our facebook page.
"We will play live in the near future. Two things that influences this right now. 1. We want enough good songs for a live set and are working hard on it. 2. Most importantly, Megalodon is accumulating a specific back line for it's live shows which might take some time but expect a debut show this year still."
So as a reward...here is another track...enjoy....

Pretty sweet ? although the vocals sound a bit too much like Static-X/Cult of Static for my liking. And if you make it big people will get confused between Megalodon and Mastodon.
I like the guitar tone and overall production. I would mosh to it, so good job!
