Any other guys here that hunt. If so, let's hear what you shoot with [bow or calibre] and waht the last outing presented...

Weeell, if we weren't meant to eat them, they wouldn't have been made out of meat. That being said, I still prefer someone else do the stalking, shooting, skinning, etc, etc and I'll just go pickup the end result at Woolies and chuck in on the grill ?

I could never shoot anything myself but I think that:

Hunting is ok if the purpose is to use the animal for food.

When it's for trophies and to say "look at me, I'm such a big man" it's disgusting.

Used to hunt many, many years ago but now don't and wont.

Oh don't get me wrong... The freshly killed springbok i ate at xmas was DELICIOUS!
And i totally understand the fact that the money brought in by tourists through 'canned' hunting actually helps conserve more animals than it kills... Sad but true.

I just don't like killing for sport.

Used to hunt but dont anymore. But dont knock it I just dont enjoy it anymore and life events resulted in firearm ownership issues. Anyway, shot with 3006 and 273 depending on what was being hunted really. I actually dont enjoy venison so it doesnt really make sense to hunt. I also find it a joke to use bits and pieces of other species for things like nuts and saddles when there are such obviously more effective materials to choose from. Like hanging crocodile or shark teeth off a hat.

We had a molerat situation in our garden. Please don't tell me that garlic tablets, mothballs, doggiedoos, solar molers (I have two), flooding, home-made humane traps work. We tried them all. My garden, such as it is, ended up looking like a minedump. We were trying every humane trick in the book.

Molerat number one got shot as he was nuzzling about trying to fix his disturbed tunnel by my ex. He sat and waited for him. I know it sounds cruel - but truly it was us or him.

Then 2 years later here is this guy's cousin. And he really went for it. Now we're sitting without the gun - the gun has been duly handed over to the cops by this time - it was our turn. So my son takes an iron rod, sharpens the point. Sticks a mirror at an angle in molerat's newly disturbed tunnel so that it catches the sunlight and shines a bit down the tunnel. At the same time he can spot molerat from above. Well the molerat is no more need I say more. We felt sad but relieved. It's grim stuff this.

No I have not mounted the molerat's head in the dining-room. ?

if you dont eat it, or its not gonna eat you, you dont kill it...... hunting for sport in general I find to be ridiculously masculin..... and devoid of purpose at such a high expense......

with a simple bush in the center this will be far to easy.... perhaps try this blindfolded for more of a sporting attitude

Don't you think you're being a bit harsh here. After all, aren't molerats considered pests and if left uncontrolled would completely destroy the place?
