Warren Haynes

I have very little exposure to the Allman Brothers, but am watching Crossroads 2010 before the family make me turn it.off.

I just love the tone and playing of Warren Haynes, he does a couple of songs with Dereck Trucks and Susan Tedeschi.

Fingers and no plectrums and tone to die for... I am gassing for a LP after all these years of lusting after the strat sound.

Any other fans of his music, where do I start with his catalog of stuff?

You must get your self the cd/dvd collection of Gov't Mule, The Deepest End Live in concert.
This will give a really good taste of Warren Hayne's repertoire, as well as some great guest appearences with him.
What great tone, I especially like the songs that he uses his Firebird.

The first time I saw him was on Dave Matthews Band - live in central park DVD, he had a guest appearance.
He has really nice tone and a lot of emotion in his playing.

+1 - I've got that album too. Warren did some awesome acoustic stuff too. His cover of U2's "One" is just great.
And he's got the voice to match as well. I'm a huge fan.

I make a point to get my hand on everything he does. He's got one of the most beautiful LP tones ever with a kickass voice to boot.
I found this guy on youtube that does quite a few Gov't Mule covers/ lessons. He get Warren's style down pretty close... check it out.

Great player, exactly how I would like to sound when I grow up!

I have the bare knuckle 'mule' pickup in my ibanez artist and it is very nice. The allman Bros DVD with Derek trucks is very good. To me he is the stand out player out of the two, even his slide playing is top notch!
