Hey folks, any ideas where I could get a 6cm (diameter), 1W 8ohm speaker?

Let's try this: why would you stick to 6cm? What is the reasoning behind steering clear of the 8" stuff that is readily available?

well, 8 inch wont fit in the casing.. only reason really.

Its one of those little porta amps which i thought was rubbish. Then I ran a pedal into the front and its given this little amp a whole new life. And... its perfect in my living setup as I dont annoy the neighbours.
A mate of mine in the UK swapped out speakers and he is super chuffed with the tonal difference. (Please note, I dont really believe im going to get much useful tone from 6inch speaker, but that is what I have my bigamps for.)

Just want to try out the speaker change .. I cant believe a 6 or 8 incher costs that much, but alas.. the 8 inch wont fit intothe casing. Thus my trying to source a "useful" 6 inch speaker

Okay I really had a stupid response to the question.. Sorry.
When it comes to guitar speakers, the jensen MOD has a 6" 15 watt speaker but in my catalog it is only in 4 ohms!

edit, most of them might be a little highly rated for your application :-\

On the one hand pushing a guitar speaker gives better tone, on the other hand there is no such thing as an overrated speaker. You can allllllmost always put 0.1W through 300W drivers.

a 10w or 15w speaker is only the thermal handling limit of the speaker, nothing else!

I have a 6 inch SANYO alnico on my shelf. 3 watts and 4 ohms. I can check the mounting hole dimensions, if you post them here.

Karel, Im on it, going to open her up and check..

Edit* Ok... that was easy... so the speaker itself doesnt have mounting holes. There are some "clamps" in the casing thatare screwed down and hold down either edge of the speaker..

ohh man just now dawning on me... Im going to fry the amp if I stick in a 4ohm arent I? :-[

Or doesnt this matter at this low wattage? :-\

Good question

4 ohm will run the chip hotter. Can you see what chip (see if you can read the number) does the power amp work (the one on the heat sink).

At 1watt I do not think there's going to be a problem.
