I know him from a great interview in an '81 (I think) issue of Guitar Player I picked up recently. Wonderful species of guitar nerd that guy. I think the quote in the mag was, "I don't play anything made after 1934." ?

Yeah he's a well known musicologist too. Blues, Calypso, bluegrass, folk and country.
