Vester fix up project

So guys this is the really cheap guitar i picked up and by cheap i do mean R300 including bag, cable, and 2 straps.

First pic that i have i have already put new strings on her, and replaced the machine heads. After hooking her up to the amp i realized the switch is a bit dysfunctional and decided to open up and see about doing some fixing up.

Opened her up and this is what she looks like under the hood. Note the very small wire running to the jack ☹

This is after i have de-soldered and you can see the barely useful shielding by the pots:

The front all complete and the wire for the pickup to the jack has been upgraded to a much bigger shielded one too:

If you guys have any comments or input...please do. I plan to do another guitar as soon as i find another project one ?

Interesting how the Vesters end up as project guitars... I also got hold of one, for R350, no bag or strap or anything, but the guitar was in reasonable condition. I'm using the neck to put onto a home-made body, hoping to finish it in these holidays.

Nice work! What are the pups like? I know the ones in the Vester i got were pretty decent ?

@Aja Suggestions for what to do to the headstock?

@VellaJ Make for nice project guitars yea, still on the lookout for the next project guitar. Pups on this one are quite good, and sound so sweet after the modifications to the shielding. Only hassle is i need to replace the pods now as they seem to be a bit on the abnormal side. Should be sweet as candy after its all done though. Not going to change much more as this guitar is going to my sister.
