Fender Strat buy advice?

I finally sold my 2 guitars and now it's time to get a Fender strat!! Im in a lucky position because my dad lives in dubai so i am browsing the dubai classified ads aswel. This is what choices I got: Brand new Fender Highway One HSS (Made In USA) Fender Start "Rebuilt": Its a American Standard Neck and Tuners, Mexican Body and bridge, New Aged white guard, American Jack + Switch and Fender Custom Shop Pick ups. (Guitar is 3 years old and in good condition) Brand New Fender Road Worn 50's strat (Made in Mexico) its the most exspensive out of al the options Fender Stratocaster Plus 1989 (made in USA) The strat Plus was introduced in 1987 as a upgraded version of the mid 80's american standard it has Gold Lace Sensor Pickups (used by Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Buddy Guy on their older artist models) at that time the Strat Plus was the highest end production model next to Fender Custom Shop guitars. This specific Strat plus has been slightly modified, bridge pick up has been replaced with a DiMarzio and the 2nd tone knob has been replaced by a switch that is wired to the Dimarzio. What this switch does is basically makes it bright or warm. Bright is great for added boost or crunch and the warm is a nice blended in vibe with the other pickups. The bridge has also been proffesionaly blocked so theres no whammy. (Is there a way to "unblock" the bridge? Because i realy want the normal bridge) The Strat Plus sounds like a winner but the bridge bothers me and so does the age, I will have a good guitarist that works for my dad go check out the instrument to make sure I dont get screwed over. My second option wil be the Highway one HSS but I would like to hear the opinions of the forum members?

+1 on the Strat Plus. A very good modern-style Strat (two point trem, roller nut, locking tuners, Hipshot Trem Setter, TBX control, etc.) & I'm not a big fan of Lace Sensors (nothing wrong with them though - they are nice, very quacky - but are generally too polite for me), and can take or leave the TBX, but that's easily fixed. ?

You guys are a persuasive bunch...
I pretty much made up my mind on the strat plus, because it has the "Swimming pool" route in the body I can easily make it a HSS.. On http://xhefriguitars.com/index.html theres a few sexy looking beasts.. Will probably follow in their footsteps in rewiring and different pick up choices. and at 5K if im not happy with what I got I dont think it wil be too much of a hassle to sell it.. I have a trustworthy friend that knows his way around guitars that wil accompany my dad tommorow to make sure the guitar is what it appears to be.

The neck of the strat plus is in horrible shape, will need replacing so there goes that idea... Will be checking out a few american specials at my local music stores..

Hi Freddie, remember that bying any guitar without playing it first will always be a gamble no matter how incedible the price. Sometimes it is not the most expensive one that speaks to you. I support the advice given to go and play as many strats as you can find - you might be surprised with the one you pick in the end.

Bough a new Fender American Deluxe with ash body... ? i went over my buget with about R10 000 but thats the price of perfection i guess... The tone and feeling is awesome!! Had a alder sss, ash sss and alder hss to choose from al with maple fretboards I was so torn between the alder hss and ash sss but in the end i decided on the ash.. Wish the sss could of had the lsr roller nut like the hss but you cant get it all i guess... Looks also played a tiny rol :? chose the transparent red over the sunburst

Okay i'm not doing very well... According to the very usefull "how to post pictures" topic i'm supposed to right click and select "Copy Image Location"? But i'm not getting that choice?

50's strats Roadworn look fake and sound thin as hell in my opinion.
The Eric Clapton ish strat, I had one, and DID not like it......
Go for the highway, or the partscaster
