Disapointing NBGD

So yesterday I got myself a cheap bass, an Oscar Schmidt by Washburn.

Plugged it in for the first time today to tune to find intonation and neck way off. When I unplugged the lead to set it up, the jack socket ripped right out.

So I'm gonna solder her up as well. ha ha, I guess I deserve this hey...

I'm also rather late on a NGD with the Cort I got from OneDayClint 2 weeks ago. Will post pics etc soon...

Ag, I got it so cheap cos it was the LAST one...

I think it's actually a bit of a design flaw with the jack. It's not one with a face plate screwed to the body but rather relies on being snugly fit into the hole. I will probably get one of those locking Neutriks or upgrade it anyway. It's certainly not the worst bass guitar I've played.

Hmmm... if it came from the shop I'd insist they sort it out, don't care if it's a R100 guitar...
All that said, with a little love and care almost any guitar can be made playable/enjoyable, and the OS is a nice shape imho!
Edit: I found setting the truss rod and intonation on my bass far easier than any of my guitars... just use a tuner and let the truss rest a day between major adjustments.

See that's Principle over time. I don't have much time so in this case, I'll take time over principle.

I have let them know though about the fault. It's fixed already, took me less time to fix it that to send them an email.

k Jack, i just returned it. one of the split pups was dead, they wired it in parallel to try get round it and cos I prefer the Jazz pup I only noticed now.

Will fill you in on the replacement later.

Ok so here's the new bebbie

Set up very well and sounds quite good, could probably do with an upgrade but I'm not full on into bass so I don't see the need to spend that much money on it...
