interesting ..... but i can't imagine a tele with gold hardware and pearloid tuners .no thanks that ones a bit glitzy for me , and the century old redwood one is an amazing concept to use old wood , but again i don't like the look of the red wood ... maybe i'm too used to seeing a natural tele in swamp ash but i love tele's and the spec of the old wood one is more to my liking

but again they all have modern "compensated" saddles....... what i find odd is all the tele players who became greats did amazing work on the 3 saddle tele's without compensated saddles ...... it's part of tele tradition .... and didn't seem to hold any of them back or stop audiences from listening to their music ..

maybe i'm just being odd but my deepest love of tele's goes for the early basic design , slab ash body no body contours/old ashtray bridge /3 brass saddles /maple vintage U shaped neck/and 50's pups ....... basically i would idolise the 'American vintage 52 re issue" as the ideal traditional tele which seems to have all my requirements..... afraid i don't like the new "mods" on many of the models..... but hey if someone gave me one i'd still be over the moon ? and could learn to live with the modern features

Quite a few of the old tele masters would bend the intonation screw slightly so that the saddle could be slanted slightly in a direction that allows for a closer intonation. The compensated saddles essentially are for the same thing but give you a better angle to get the intonation right and are radiussed slightly better than a traditional bridge while still being constructed of solid brass for tone. Having played on one I honestly support the opinion that it is a superior evolution of the original design, whilst still keeping the integrity of the tone. I'm sure had the option been around back then most players would have gone for it as well, I know I've read countless interviews with players complaining about intonation and having to re-tune their guitars slightly depending on key or depending on if they were playing open chords or barre chords to get things sounding more in. This gets you far closer to solving the inherent disadvantages of the guitar, so why not? ?
