just bored as hell, have nothing to study, nothing to work, nothing to play, my hands freeze after about 15min of fiddling and I'm just lying around waiting for Wednesday to come so I can go home.
:?
So that's my "sorry for self" vent for the evening, what are you up to? ?

no rest for the wicked here......... i'm getting ready for my resident gig here at sun city ....... only starts at 10 pm ? and yeah it's damn cold tonight....... i could easily just stay in a warm bed, but hey the show must go on ?
---mario---
haha, at least it gives some thrill to the evening! But good luck at keeping the fings warm though.
I've been at the "doing nothingness" for more than a week now, all I've been doing is planning (my word for daydreaming) a project I'll be starting to keep myself busy in the holiday, so looking forward to that.
I've just discovered that I enjoy playing slow finger-picking songs more than the usual distorted power chord songs... could be the cold though, or I might be to lazy to play faster...

Spent a day travelling to get my new electronic drumset and just spent a couple of hours setting it up then beating the hell out of it. I'm exhausted now, need to build up some stamina again...

Im supposed to be studying...meh guess I'll start now...But I was testing out my new Oil Can guitar I got from Skylark, it still surprises me, I knew it sounded good despite how it looks, but it still amazes me every time I hear it!
singemonkey
Alternating studying with trying to get that Johnny Cash electric strum down. Isn't it freaking amazing how some of the simplest sounding things on the guitar can be frustratingly difficult to get right? >☹
flatfourfan
just said cheers to mundane and flyman, had a kick ass 6 hour sesh and made some good headway with some songs, also looked into 2-3 new ones.
now to get the room back to normal go I can hit the sack and get some shut eye.

Awesome, NEDD pics maybe? ? What did you get?
Looks like everybody was hiding away from their studies on GFSA? Or jamming
I just remembered of something that I have to do that'll keep me busy for a while today, yay.

Roland TD-9K (couldn't quite stretch to the KX2, which has all mesh heads).

damn that looks cool, I recall having to check through some catalogues a while back for one of these for a friend, they can get pretty expensive but seems worth it.
How does their sound compare to acoustic drum sets? If there can be a difference of course, I don't know anything about drums.
AlanRatcliffe
Yeah, they can get expensive, but so do acoustic kits. The entry level is still higher on the electric kits though.
Sounds are pretty good, plus I can always MIDI out and use my drum sample libraries.

Oh okay, sounds like fun, now you're only limited by your stamina ?

Alan, I couldn't help but notice the bass guitar in the back there ? What is it? I thought is was mainly the Steinbergers that didn't have the headstocks, but the rest of the guitar looks quite normal...
AlanRatcliffe
A few of the later headless basses had bodies - Status basses, etc.. Mine is a Hohner "The Jack", which were unusual in that they had all maple bodies and through-necks and guitar-sized bass humbuckers. I've completely redone the electronics in mine, had a set of pickups custom made for it by Pete Biltoft (Vintage Vibe Guitars), took out the active tone controls and blend control and wired it with an output for each pickup. It's an odd one, but I love it..

Lately (since Gibson took over I think) allot of the Steinberger models have solid wood cricket bats and just the necks synthetic.
I quite like the look of the "more traditional" shaped Steinberger guitars, but it still looks like there's something missing... ?

Nice kit there Alan! What do the cymbals feel like?
AlanRatcliffe
Cymbals and toms feel a bit different, but there is more bounce and less cymbal movement, so it makes some things easier to do.

I think I prefer it with the full body, the block-body disconcerts me a bit ?
