That's awesome then, especially since you're all like minded in this respect. Must have been really hard to get a band together with guys who all thought the same way though?
It was incredibly difficult at first, we went through another drummer and bassist and two keyboardists before finally settling on this line up. In the end we ditched having a keyboard player all together which has led to this need for a backing track, in some ways it's nicer cause we can program in things that you couldn't physically do on a keyboard and in other ways it's harder because now everything must be so regimented. We just feel if you're going to play to a backing track layer then there is little to no room for error and we'd just like to be as prepared as possible, we also love hearing a song go from raw concept to finished composition and constantly improve along the way before it's deemed "just right".
We were a gigging band prior to our current format called "Ministry of Lost Souls" (Lame Dream Theater reference right there), we were lazy so we didn't put any effort into finding a better name ? We ended up writing stuff and then forcing things at practices etc, we felt this rushed period to become a functioning band made the compositions a bit weak and we soon became bored and uninterested in playing them. So now we've gone back to the drawing board, gotten a new name and are working at creating music we can truly enjoy more and be proud of while also hopefully being more capable of capturing the listener. We're just trying to deliver a more proffessional and organised etiquette this time around, we feel all this scrutiny has been beneficial and has allowed us more time to write parts that really capture us and have a better overall flow and feeling ?
