So, if we have a vocal board here, I would be keen to share the knowledge I have gleened more recently.
OK. Good enough for me...
+1, would love to glean that knowledge of Pete. I'm a worship leaders, so I sing every week, often multiple times a week too. So, I would love some tips to improve ?
+ another one, I am also a worship leader so that's a regular one for me. Would love some useful tips!
:-[ Was my face red.
I created interest in the vocal thing and haven't followed through.
What I've realised is that I can only help aspirant singers 'live' or via video/audio tutorials and I haven't got the time to explore that route. I follow Brett Manning's Singing Success programme (I bought his DVD/CD programme) and regularly follow the tips on his website.
However, I do think that one-on-one lessons is the way to go, but I could not find anyone here in Durbs who offered 'speech-level' coaching, that's why I'm offering it. BTW this not a punt for myself but I urge you, no matter where you are in SA, to find a singing coach that offers the speech-level singing approach. With one-on-one lessons your coach can show you where you are going wrong and stop you from developing bad habits, which I have learned is critical in singing development.
I've also learned that singing coaches are somewhat critical of one another and Brett Manning gets a lot of flack, but I kinda liked his approach albeit with his controversial "increase you range by one octave in six months or get your money back guarantee". Well, I never got anywhere near one octave but i did raise it up by half an octave. But what I have gleaned from the programme is invaluable in creating a natural tone and to remove all tension... I can now do a full 4 hour gig with no strain on the voice.
Here's Brett's site

I tried to participate in the forum but it's difficult to navigate so I gave that up... maybe you will have more luck.
