Was going to post this in the fuzz thread but then I thought this discussion might warrant it's own thread...

This gumtree ad has been around for a while...

Anyone buy a pedal from this guy? For all I know he might even be a forum member...

Then... deciding on variants... I'm not sure which one I'd like to order. Any advice on variants? I like a 'smoother', softer fuzz rather than crunchier, if that makes any sense. The second pedal in this demo is the closest to what i like...

apparently it has 2 opamp (?) chips instead of the normal transistors...

If you want smooth, get black russian big muff... As smooth as they get ?

Maybe I should invest locally for a change and get a green russian muff?

That pedal in the add looks really neatly made...

I'm heading out to him next week, will post my thoughts ?
Ad has ended, what was the pricing like? I think I paid R800 something for my Big Muff Pi brand new.
You should never pay more than R500 for a second hand muff in my opinion. My one is pretty sick, but I think any (American based) muff is great. Havn't heard too many good things about the Russian ones.

unfortunately financial constraints pre-empted my pedal buy ☹ hopefully in a month or two...

I love my Black Arts Toneworks Pharoah

It is what a Big Muff always wanted to be . . .

. . . from a mild boost, to an sublte OD, to a big OD, to a light fuzz, right up too a DOOM FUZZ !!!

Sadly, Andy does not show the entire spectum of what this pedal can really do !
Imho, the best Muff style fuzz out there !

I really like my black (old big box) Russian Muff.
Does not sound like a standard Big Muff . . . deff has it's own voicing going on !

Raithza, Have you looked at BYOC's Large Beaver. It has switchable tone controls on a rotary switch, so you don't have to choose only one option. It also uses the origianl BC239C transistors.

If you are in to pedal building, it might be a good option. I will be doing a group buy shortly if you are interested.http://www.guitarforum.co.za/effects/byoc-group-buy-any-interest/msg154051/?topicseen#msg154051
