hi all,

I'm vaughn - new to the forum, been playing acoustics for a couple of years, but really nothing serious. haven't really practiced much at all until recently. been playing my old man's yahama acoustic which is about 30 years old!!!

i dig rock and alternative - so i'm aiming to get an electric and some other odds and ends!

first thing i'll be doing is browsing the forum for advice on what gear to go for and what to avoid!

Hi Vaughn and welcome something about your name suggest that the gear you should be looking for is a reliced Strat and a stack of Marshalls and a good song to start with as a n00b is Mary Had A Little Lamb (testing) ?

Sorry Alan - guilty as charged not very observant of me especially since I have been working on "Lenny" and found that the Fender Twin gives the closest tone and being in possession of at least 3 SRV concert DVD's, the "testing" is a lyric line in his rendition of Mary Had a Little Lamb - but you knew that didn't you :-[

I didn't make the connection - I thought you were "testing" Vaughn for SRV affinity and was in too much of a rush to show how gosh darned clever I are. ?

BTW: it's "Extraordinaire" - with an "e" on the end.

i like a little bit craziness - so it looks like i'll fit right in here!

as for the test - i failed. went right over my head! so i haven't learnt Mary had a little lamb yet, but yesterday i learnt a few Smashing Pumpkins songs - i'm loving their earlier stuff lately!

anyway - i saw one of these in a music store yesterday and i have to have one, but only if its a good piece of gear, so gimme some advice please!

its an Ibanez ART 320 - transparent grey burst! its not THAT expensive, although it is a lot more expensive than say a black Ibanez ARX140. but i really prefer the Les Paul shape. what do you guys reckon???

art 320 is an awesome guitar IMO , almost bought one a few weeks ago , the wife had dealings with that sadly . you'll never go wrong with an ibanez

riaan - i see your lineup of axes is impressive.

i have my heart set on the ART320 - but purely because of looks. i dont really know much about them! i also came across cort guitars on a local website - are they any good? i ask because they're a lot cheaper than the ibanez??? if i couldnt afford the ART320 would a cort be a good option?

lastly - what about the ibanez ARX - thats even cheaper than the cort range!

hmmm - maybe these silly questions should be in the gear section? ???

Corts are very good guitars , the zenox range are good value for money and very versatile , also the EVL range bit more pricey but also very good

theres this new cort X range, looks pretty cool. very much like Ibanez.dont know the quality tho...
